🔒 Privacy at a Glance

📋 Information We Collect

NextRank does not require an account. Most data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers. The following describes what is used and why:

• Study and test progress — Your quiz scores, test history, and topic performance are stored locally on your device using iOS storage (UserDefaults / AppStorage). This data does not leave your device.
• Pace count calibration — If you use the Land Nav training feature, your personal pace count calibration value is saved locally on your device. It is not transmitted anywhere.
• Scope Ruler calibration — If you use the Scope Ruler in the Ribbon Builder, your pixel-per-inch calibration is saved locally. No camera images are stored or transmitted.
• Subscription status — Your subscription state (free vs. Pro) is managed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We do not store or process payment information.
• AI Board session content — When you use the AI Promotion Board feature, your typed responses are sent to a secure proxy server solely to generate AI responses. No personal identifiers are attached to these requests. Session content is not retained after the session ends.
• Anonymous crash and diagnostic data — Standard iOS crash reports may be collected via Apple's built-in crash reporting. These do not contain personally identifiable information.

📷 Device Permissions

NextRank requests the following device permissions for specific features:

• Camera — Used by the Scope Ruler (Ribbon Builder) and Uniform Checker to provide a live camera view for measurement and inspection. No photos or video are stored or transmitted.
• Motion & Fitness (Pedometer) — Used by the Land Nav Pace Count feature to count steps during calibration. Step data is used only in real time and is not stored beyond your calibration value.
• Location / Compass (When In Use) — Used by the Land Nav Compass feature to display a live bearing. Your GPS coordinates are never collected, stored, or transmitted. Only the device heading (compass direction) is read locally.

You may deny any of these permissions in iOS Settings. Doing so will disable the specific feature that requires it; all other app functions will continue to work normally.

🚫 What We Do Not Collect

• Your name, email address, or any personal identifier
• Your GPS location or precise geographic coordinates
• Photos, video, or audio recordings of any kind
• Biometric data
• Military unit, rank, or service record information
• Any data from government or military systems

🤖 AI Promotion Board Feature

The AI Board feature simulates a U.S. Army promotion board interview using an AI language model. When you use this feature:

• Your typed responses within the session are transmitted to a secure proxy server to generate board member replies
• No name, rank, unit, or identifying information is required or requested
• Session transcripts are not stored on our servers after the session ends
• AI-generated responses are simulations for practice purposes only and do not reflect official Army evaluation standards

Use of this feature counts against your monthly AI Board question allowance as defined in your subscription plan.

💳 Subscriptions & Payments

NextRank Pro is an auto-renewable monthly subscription managed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit framework. We do not process, store, or have access to your payment information. All billing, receipts, and subscription management are handled by Apple. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your iOS device's App Store account settings.

🔗 Third-Party Services

NextRank uses the following third-party services:

• Apple StoreKit — Subscription and in-app purchase processing. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
• AI Proxy Server — A secure intermediary server used to relay AI Board prompts to an AI language model. No personal data is transmitted with these requests.

We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or sell data to data brokers.

⚖️ Your Rights

Because NextRank does not require an account and stores data only on your device, most personal data is entirely under your control. You may:

• Delete all locally stored app data by uninstalling NextRank from your device
• Reset your progress and test history within the app via Settings → Reset Progress
• Revoke camera, motion, or location permissions at any time in iOS Settings → NextRank
• Contact us with any privacy questions or concerns using the information below

👶 Children's Privacy

NextRank is intended for use by U.S. Army service members and candidates preparing for promotion boards. The app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

🛡️ Security

Data transmitted to the AI proxy server is sent over encrypted connections (TLS). Locally stored data is protected by iOS device encryption and the iOS app sandboxing model. We do not operate databases containing user personal information.

NextRank is an independent study and preparation tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the United States Army, Department of Defense, or any military or government agency.

Content — including study questions, regulations references, and AI-generated board simulations — is provided for educational and preparation purposes only. NextRank does not guarantee promotion board results. Users are responsible for verifying information against current official Army publications.

📄 Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
